Secure Access Service Edge (SASE)

Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) is a security framework that combines software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) and Zero Trust security solutions into a single, cloud-delivered platform. It securely connects users, systems, endpoints, and remote networks to apps and resources. DNS is the lookup that drives the internet and creates a numerical value from a domain name, for instance www.google.com resolving to 142.250.200.4.

SASE has four main characteristics

The main goal of SASE architecture is to provide a seamless user experience, optimised connectivity, and comprehensive security in a way that supports the dynamic secure access needs of digital enterprises.

Identity-driven

Access is granted based on the identity of users and devices.

Cloud-native

Both infrastructure and security solutions are cloud-delivered.

Supports all edges

Every physical, digital, and logical edge is protected.

Globally distributed

Users are secured no matter where they work.

Cost-effective

SASE consolidates multiple network and security functions into a unified cloud-based service, eliminating the need for separate hardware appliances at each location

Scalability

Its cloud-centric approach means you can easily scale your network and security infrastructure as your needs evolve

Enhanced Security

SASE moves the control of network security to the network edge, enhancing security in today’s distributed network without compromising your network performance

At Ampito, we believe that SASE is critical for modern workplaces as it supports agile operations, delivers as a service from the cloud, and can be managed centrally. It’s a valuable solution compared to traditional enterprise network security that connects offices via private networks and routes traffic through security web gateways and firewalls. And by combining SASE with DNS security, your business can create a more robust and comprehensive security posture, protecting against a wide range of threats.

DNS is also used by threat actors of course and RedSpam provide services that can delivery secure lookups. This blocks users from being able to access rogue websites or destinations on the internet.  Many of these services can also provide reporting on user usage.
